1. Measure: First you will want to measure the drawer faces and doors and make sure to write down the dimensions.
2. Remove Drawers: From there you will want to remove the drawers and unscrew the hinges from inside of the cabinet doors. Then you will need to remove them from the cabinet box.
3. Clean: Clean out the cabinet box both on the outside and on the inside. You can use an all-purpose cleaner. Make sure that the surface is dry before continuing.
4. Fill Holes: Now it’s time to fill any and all cracks and holes using wood putty. Scrape them flat with a putty knife, then let the putty dry for approximately two hours.
5. Sand: You will need to sand the cabinet box now in order to prepare it for the veneer. The surface should be equally dull. Be sure to wipe it all down using a microfiber cloth that is damp from a combination of mild dish soap and water. When it is dry, make sure that you wipe the dust away with a state duster. You can also use a dry microfiber.
6. Attach end panels: Make sure the panel is flush with the front of the cabinet box.
7. Unroll: It’s time to unroll the new self-adhesive veneer and cut it into strips a little wider than your stiles and rails.
8. Apply the self-adhesive veneer: Peel the backing off slowly while pressing the veneer into place then trim the excess with a utility knife. Sand the edges smooth.
9. Hinges: Now you will need to screw the hinges to the new doors. Use the old doors as a kind of guide. Be sure that you hold the hinge in place. Drill screw holes, and make sure that these screw holes are just barely smaller than the width of the screws themselves. Attach on the new doors. You will need to attach them to the corresponding door openings of the cabinet box using a screwdriver.
10. Remove Previous Drawer Fronts: Now remove the old drawer fronts. You can do this simply be removing the screws inside. Then place the new drawer fronts in their proper place and attach them to the drawer boxes using screws. If it so happens that your drawer fronts are part of the drawer box then you will need to cut the edges in order for the front pieces to be flush with the sides. Turn around the box, attach your new front to the previous back of the drawer box, and replace the drawers.
